In the 991 series, you have to put your finger underneath the toggle and "strenuously" pull up for the entire time of lowering and raising the roof. I have the largest muscle in my index finger raising and lowering my roof. Wish Porsche could do the same with the rest of my body...

After fitting a SmartTop to my previous R171, fitting a SmartTop to my replacement R172 was a priority: The functions I use the most are dropping all four windows when returning to my sun baked SLC and being able to open or close the roof with out having to jump into the car, turn on the ignition, hold the roof switch for 20 seconds. Though I wouldn't advocate operating the roof at 30+ mph here on the UK's rough roads, but being able to "complete" the roof opening/closing cycle while building up speed is well worth the cost when either dodging UK showers or when the lights turn green...! The other function that people might find useful, is being able to disable Stop/Start mode & remembering what driving mode was last used. Mods4cars do seem to do annual firmware updates to increase functionality & from experience of members on SLKworld.com, the technical support from mods4cars who make SmartTop is importantly very good.

Hey I call bs with closing the top with the remote I tried it numerous times and it doesn’t work. Ok I had to edit this I didn’t realize that it was a “mod” your company puts on the car that’s actually pretty cool. It was so sleek I thought that was a feature on the Camaro lol.

Porsche 911 Targa (991.2) - Fantastic Mod and easy to install Thought I would post for Targa owners as I did not see too many writes up for this mod for my Targa. Arrived on Monday, checked firmware, made changes to the different configuration options for what I wanted, and installed later Monday afternoon. I love these new options!! There are even some updates it seems since this video. You can now just simply press and hold a button to operate the roof and the windows. You no longer have to push a button 3x or 2x, etc. This is so discrete and easy. The swapping of the harness connection to add the new controller is beyond simplistic. They even included a Velcro square to adhere it to the frame so it doesn't move around and damage the wiring connections. I never found a video to show a full installation for a Targa, just a Cabriolet, but the few pictures included online showing what to do was enough. It is SO much easier on a Targa than on a Cabriolet! My only recommendation is to be patient when connecting the Mods4Cars SmartTOP to your computer via the m4connect interface. The device was not initially recognized by my computer and a Driver needed to be loaded. There are a few different options that you may have to try. All of this information is found on the site. I had to download the Driver and manually go though and update the Driver for the USB device. It is not hard, just takes a little time and a reboot of the computer. I share this so you do get frustrated and feel there is something wrong with the device. After about 5-10 minutes of updating my system, the SmartTOP device connected to the m4connect and I was off and running. If you are thinking about it...DO IT! I could say the one-touch up and one-touch down feature from inside the vehicle would have sold me, but all of the operations from the key fob are PRICELESS!

I bought mods4cars 15 months ago and happy I did. If you’re a big guy like me your going to have a little trouble getting in position to remove the harness in the trunk. Tip’ remove the spire tire, have a flash light handy and you’re golden. 2013 MB E550

I have a BMW Z4 E89. I know a smart top box is fitted as I can operate the roof from key fob and close the roof whilst driving. My question is....where is the SmartTOP module fitted on my car? Thanks.
